Building Permit Instructions & Requirements
Attach two (2) copies of the plans for the improvement/new construction proposed. Plans should include streets, dimensions of property, and location of proposed improvement/new construction in relation to property lines.
There are five (5) inspections that are required when doing new construction:
The Lot Inspection, Footings Inspection, and Final Inspection can only be done by the Building Inspector or their Designee.
If the new construction includes a driveway and/or sewer and water tap, separate permits are required.
Upon application approval, the permit MUST be picked up from City Hall and posted on site prior to beginning the project.
Upon completion of a listed task on the provided permit, the licensed contractor must print their business name, sign, and date the corresponding box on the permit to show it has been completed in compliance with at least 2003 IBC. If the project does not require a licensed contractor, an inspection can be scheduled with the Building Inspector by contacting City Hall at (573) 835-2106.
Updates, questions, and project photographs can be emailed to the building inspector at email@example.com
Once the project is completed, the permit with all applicable signatures MUST be returned to City Hall and a final inspection is required to be scheduled.
